Test result of a diet pill shows health risk
December 07, 2005
According to White Plains-based ConsumerLab.com LLC, a local nutritional-supplement
testing company, the results of the tests on TrimSpa X32, a diet
pill showed that the supplement contained 42 percent more chromium
than claimed on its label. In addition, ConsumerLab.com said the
test samples showed trace amounts of a toxic form of chromium.
As a result, a conflict took place between the nutritional-supplement
testing company and the manufacturer of the popular diet pill after
the publication of test results which showed that the supplement
may put users' health at risk. The test results earned TrimSpa X32,
the diet pill, a "Not Approved" tag. The maker of the
weight-loss supplement rejected the findings and said its product
was safe and contained only what was shown exactly on the product's
packaging.
